Fin de l’ère du bénévolat: En 1973, le FCE a embauché son premier employé / entrepreneur (à temps partiel), Les Bunning, en tant que Business Manager, transformant ainsi une opération 100% bénévole. Notes historiques

  • En 1872, l’Association canadienne des échecs (CCA) a été fondée à Hamilton, en Ontario. Il a tenu les championnats canadiens annuels jusqu’à sa renaissance en 1932.
  • En 1924, le Canada est l’un des pays fondateurs de FIDE.
  • En 1932, la Fédération canadienne des échecs (CCF) a été fondée à Haileybury, Ontario.
  • En 1945, la CCF a été renommée Fédération d’échecs du Canada (CFC). Cela a été fait pour éviter toute confusion avec le parti politique portant les mêmes initiales.
  • En 1973, le CFC embauche son premier employé / entrepreneur (Les Bunning).
  • En 1976, la CFC est devenue une société par actions.
  • En 2014, le CFC s’est restructuré pour se conformer à la loi sur les organismes à but non lucratif.
